PIAPER Preconference planned for 2007 SRCD
The SRA/SRCD Study Group on Parental Involvement in Adolescent Peer Relations (PIAPER) will be hosting a pre-conference on Thursday Morning, March 29. The PIAPER pre-conference is scheduled for 8-11:30 AM, just prior to the start of the SRCD sessions.
We have selected ‘facilitating collaboration’ as the theme for this pre-conference and have set a tentative agenda as follows:

Topics will be determined from discussion following first small group session. Possible topics include:
- Information Exchange (strategic disclosure/secrecy/information seeking)
- Mother vs. Father Involvement in adolescent peer relationships
- International research partnerships
10:45 – 11:00 Report from Session 2
11:00 – 11:30 Whole Group Discussion
- Fostering collaborative grant proposals (funding sources)
- Facilitating International Involvement
- Next steps for PIAPER
NOTE: The intention is for small group discussions to focus not on what is known or our own latest research findings, but on: methodological issues and challenges (in data gathering, measurement, or data analyses), conundrums that have arisen from our own data, questions that need to be answered. The second portion of these sessions will focus on encouraging sets of investigators to consider possible joint research projects / joint grant submissions.

SRA Announces PIAPER Grant
The Executive council has provided a grant to the PIAPER Study Group to underwrite upcoming activities. Included are funds to support a PIAPER Preconference at SRCD (Boston, 2007)and a planning session at SRA (Chicago, 2008). Some of the funds will be devoted to expanding participation of international scholars in the SRCD preconference. PIAPER-Sponsored Symposia at SRCD
PIAPER Study Group member Anne Fletcher (Anne_Fletcher@uncg.edu) has coordinated sessions at the 2007 SRCD meetings in Boston that focus on themes related to the Study Group's work.
